Quotes

Head Coach John L. Smith

On the loss of Drew Stanton … “He’s your leader, he’s the guy that’s really done a lot of good things for us lately. He had a spark and we were rolling.

Drew Stanton

“I felt like we were gaining momentum the whole time.”

Braylon Edwards

“I almost cried. It was magnificent.”

Head Coach Lloyd Carr

“When you look at the drama of the fourth quarter and the overtime and all of the plays, it’s going to go down as one of the great games in the history of the Big Ten Conference.”

Personal Story

A couple of my friends went up to a buddies house in Ann Arbor to watch the game. The entire household was MSU fans, or atleast, thats what we thought.

MSU controlled the game early but then Drew Stanton got knocked out with a shoulder injury in the 2nd quarter. Damon Dowdell came in and did an ok job handling the offense until late in the 4th quarter. Down 17 UM staged a miraculous comeback.

It was very lighthearted in the house until Scott muffed the onside kick. After that, everyone was on pins and needles.

When the game went into OT, one of the guys roomates walked in, dressed from head to toe in UM gear. He had left the game early thinking MSU had the game won and was shocked to find the game tied up. Immediately he cheered and you could tell the anger was going to spill over.

One of the housemates parents and their young son were watching the game with us. The father probably had one too many cocktails in him and was mouthing off back and forth with the UM fan.

When State threw the incomplete pass on 4th down in the 3rd OT, the UM fan started to cheer rather loudly. This enraged the father and much to our dismay, he went after the kid and tried to fight him. During the scuffle in which many people tried to intervene, the young son of about 11 tried to hold his dad back and started crying in the process.

It was a shameful display by the father and coupled with the disastrous loss on the field, an embarrassment all-around by Spartan Nation.

It was the worst I had ever felt as a MSU fan.

I’d rather a blank screen than this garbage.

You should be ashamed of yourself! You deserve a quick backhand to the nuts. Chris, please hand down the punishment.

Michigan nerds would go crazy pointing out the grammar error in the lone Michigan fan’s response in this post. I will not point out the error, I will just point out that Michigan fans are nerds.

That was a great comeback and the best game I’ve attended – it should be posted. The MSU had no idea what to do with Braylon.

You could also post a blank screen to stare at – it’s relevant. I’m sure that’s whats going through most of the MSU players’ minds…

Take it down. This is terrible. It’s almost as bad as that one time you posted that picture of Joe’s mom wiping his teez.

Take it down. Put up a picture of you and Meray holding hands. Yes . . . I would rather look at that than this. One, because this is THAT BAD; and two, because that could be (COULD be) hot.

I was at this so-called party at PB Nasty’s house. It was a sad, sad day. That poor 11 year old will never look at the rivalry the same.

I don’t know which game was worse the triple overtime or Bobby Williams losing the team?

Sidebar, I was at the game in 1990 when MSU upset the #1 wolvies. Desmond Howard has got to stop tripping over his own feet.

    (1) e-mail him;

    (2) you know what’s worse than Michigan fans that didn’t go to Michigan? Michigan fans that went to MSU. I never thought that would be you, Isaac. To borrow the immortal words of that one sign:

    “Isaac is DuGay”

    Fine, whatever, BUT:

    (1) it’s still up;

    (2) you called it “The Comeback,” as opposed to “The Give-Away” (which it was); and

    (3) You’re still DuGay

    (2) Take it down now.
    (3) Pat is still right.

“The Comeback”…please. Bills-Oilers, 1993 AFC Wild Card game, that was a comeback. The game you’re referring to was a gift.

    TAKE IT DOWN.

    “Give Away?” more like “Melt-down”

I can’t believe you gave in. You were only calling it as it was – a great comeback. It’s too bad sparty fans can’t accept this. Maybe after this weekend you’ll realize how much of an inferior team MSU is…

Let’s be frank here…there has to be an element of giving it away when you are up 3 scores with that much time left….

MSU recovers that onside kick and the game is over…if Jaren Hayes isnt left one on one with Braylon, the game is over…

that game spoke more to the competence of the MSU staff than it did the talent UM put on the field
