Officials or Stooges? I can’t tell

More from A. Isaac

John Cahill, Karl Hess, Bob Donato

No these men did not play Larry, Moe and Curly but their performance last night might as well be categorized as “Three Stooge-esque”.

And I think its about time we started calling out some of these officials by names.

I mean, they go out of their way to make themselves the stars of the game, so why not shower them with some love in print as well.

If you havent seen the play, you’re missing out on a doozy. Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds drove to the basket and got his pass blocked. After a scrum for the loose ball, Georgetown’s Jonathan Wallace picked up and tried dribbling up the side(75 feet away from the basket) with less than a second left. He received a love pat from a Georgetown player and a foul was called with 0.1 on the clock. The game was tied and the free throws decided the game.

Dont believe me, here’s video evidence.

If you’re not appalled, you should be. There was as much contact on the previous play to the basket than there was on the foul called.

Almost simultaneously though about 500 miles away, Bob Trammell, Bonita Spence, and Tina Napier tried to one up the Three Stooges with some questionable officiating of their own by letting a late clock snafu decide a women’s NCAA game between Rutgers and Tennessee.

What the hell is going on with these people?

I dont know how much these aholes make but I am all in favor of deducting game checks from them.

Who’s with me?

    Terrible call.

But, it was only one ref who made the call (I don’t know which of the three it was). So, to call out all three may be a bit much.

In the Tennessee-Rutgers women’s game, the refs had the opportunity to go to the monitor to review the call (timing issue), so I think that call was worse than the Goergstown-’Nova call.

Oh, and msuchris needs to challenge ukchris to a dual.

an officiating crew is only as strong as its weakest member…

if one gets called out, they all do…

    Too harsh.

It’s a judgment call by one guy.

You can’t blame the homeplate umpire who has called a great game for a blown call by the second base ump on a stolen base attempt.

you might be right but since we cant see which official made the call, they all deserve it
