Sidebar:I hate ESPN's recent addition to the bottom line. Instead of NCAAM as the category, they will write something like "KNIGHT." They did the same thing with "SANTANA."In my opinion, they are making individuals bigger than the game. Does it bother anyone else?

You see Chris, although both "is" and "are" are present tense conjugations of the verb "be" in the indicative mood, "is" is singular, whereas "are" is plural. In the passage cited, the player makes reference to "academics." Although he may be making reference to the general, singular practice of academia and the pursuit of academics, the collective "academics" is, in fact, plural. Therefore, the proper conjugation in that context would have been "are."Dumbass."is" is the present tense singular conjugation of the verb "be," in the indicative mood, where as "are" is the present tense plural conjugation of the verb "be," in the indicative

I don't get it…what's wrong with choosing UofM over MSU because of academics? Isnt' UofM in the top 25-30 schools in the world? I think State was around #80.
