Gobo was not the leader of the Fraggles. As a society, they lived a communal lifestyle with no real clear cut leader, although there were many charismatic characters.
There was Convincing John, who could convince the Fraggles to do pretty much anything, although he had no political aspirations and he used his power of persuasion to do silly things like convince Fraggles to wear socks on their faces.
And then there were the mystical priests called the Pipe Bangers. They would perform the miracle of causing water to flow through the pipes by banging on them with umbrellas.
Also, there was Margery, the Trash Heap. She would give senseless advice in almost every episode, like "Wear a hat".
That show rocked.

How about how the original Power Rangers were color-coordinated?
Leader: Bright Red
Brainy Dude: Blue
Preppy Chick: Pink
Asian Chick: Yellow
Black Guy: Black
Evil One: Green
Evil-One-Redeemed: White

Everyone had their assigned color and their assigned job. Leader lead them into battle, Brainy guy found the weakness, Preppy chick got captured, Asian chick blended into the background, and Black dude supplied the cheesy hip-hop lingo. Not to mention the green ranger...He was evil, apart from the collective, but once he is redeemed by the almighty Zordon, his suit magically changes from green to white and he is automatically placed as leader and had a spot as the floating head's right-hand man.

You can't get much more cult-like than that!

The PowerPuff girls nemesis was Mojo-jojo. Mojo was the proffessor's lab monkey, who was accidentally exposed to Chemical X, which was the substance added to the "sugar and spice and everything nice" to make them come alive and give them superpowers. The Chemical X made Mojo super intelligent, and green. I personally assume that he was always evil, as all monkeys are evil, with the possible exceptions of Monkey from Dexter's Lab and Curious George.

Don't forget 'the kids super power hour with shazaam'. Me and my friends watched that when i was 8 and i think it just kind of normalized adolescent behavior plus it was shown on Saturday mornings with a live audience of kids. Nothing creepy about it really.
