Two years ago, MSU walked onto Ryan Field a beaten team. They had lost 4 weeks in a row and were coming off one of the more devastating losses in MSU history a month before against rival Notre Dame.
John L. Smith was already a lame duck coach. Everybody knew his act had wore thin in East Lansing.
So when MSU fell behind 38-3 against lowly Northwestern, no one even batted an eye in their direction.
With a little over 7 minutes to go, MSU scored what seemed to be a meaningless touchdown.
And then a little less than 4 minutes later, MSU marched down the field and scored again…
And then…
All Hell broke loose

Like it or not, over the last 10-12 years, the MSU-NW game has historically been one of the most interesting in the BigTen.
Chris Garnder missing the field goal(s).
Plaxico's flea-flicker to spark a win.
MSU & NW returning TDs on 3 consecutive plays.
