Is Tony Kornheiser reading WOI? Last night, I was watching yesterday's PTI. As they were going to commercial, they teased with what stories they were going to talk about after the break. Kornheiser seque's to the Lion's by saying: "Did the Lions get hosed?" Wilbon made a big deal out of it, saying "'Hosed'? 'Hosed?"Look at WOI's weekend recap. "The Lions got hosed." You be the judge.

I agree Dick-Rod deserves heat for this loss, but not for bringing his system with him. I disagree with criticising him for taking a "his system or no system" approach; I think most (all) head coaches are that way; and I think that's what Tim was saying. Yes, WOI, that may be your point, too, but I don't think the problem is with the coach running his system, or not fitting into the program; I think it's more the program not finding the right coach -- or in this case, cooch. Michigay knew what they were getting when they bought this guy - if his system isn't what they wanted, or thought best suited there program, culture, whatever, they should have got someone else. This is his system, this is what works (supposedly) for him, and this is what he's going to run. Yes, Bush, he needs to find a way to beat Toledo - there's no real excuse for him not to - however I don't blame it on him not adapting to Michigay's current players. I blame it on him being a Dick, literally and figuratively, and Michigay being a terrible team.

Tim, you are definitely correct about Dickrod's system. However, losing to a second rate MAC team is unacceptable. Rod gets a grace period on the season, he deserves one. However, he gets no such pass when it comes to this loss.

In Dick Rod's defense, Michigan knew what they were getting into when they hired him. You don't hire Bill Walsh or Mike Martz and expect your team to be a defensive stalwart. All college coaches are system coaches. Dantonio ran the same system at Cincinnati as he does here. Dick Rod ran the same system at West Vagina as he does here. Urban Meyer is running the same system at Florida as he ran at Utah. Pete Carroll brought a system to USC. Bob Stoops has been running the same system at Oklahoma for the last decade. Mike Leach, at Texas Tech brought the same system from Oklahoma. Need I go on? College coaches aren't expected to adapt to incumbent players. They're supposed to bring in their own players that fit "their" system. Do Michigan players look confused, lost, etc? Yes, but it isn't because they don't "fit the system". More than likely, it's because they don't know the system.

God love 'em, they are playing better than their opponents, to date, but I still don't think MSU is a very good football team. I am not taking the standard WOI position of "everything sucks." I'm just saying, they have benefitted from they schedule they have played so far, and potentially that they will play all year. True, there have been some big plays. No one can take anything away from Ringer. The 4th qtr 4th down stop against Iowa was big. But they don't put teams away, they don't adjust as quickly as they need to and they have trouble scoring points at very serious times. TDs, not FGs. Hey, I'm enjoying it. I want to see 'em go 11-1. I wouldn't bee the least bit suprised if they end up 10-2 and going to the Rose Bowl. BUT, I am cautious waving it in people's faces. The team/program has a long way to go' this year has been a SIGNIFICANT stride in the right direction, but they haven't arrived . . . yet . . .
