This letter supposedly comes from 1938 when a woman applied for a job as an animator at Disney. The audacity!

While it’s certainly sucky that Disney discriminated so willfully against women in the animation department, what the letter doesn’t say is that Disney was quite ardent in their hiring of women in other departments. They hired dozens of women in multiple fields, ranging from house cleaning to napping until a Prince comes along to being held captive by a large furry animal until the woman falls in love with it (now known as Stockholm Syndrome) or just hanging around with a bunch of little people with adjectives as their names and, most prestigious, getting your legs cut off and replaced by a fin then wearing nothing but clam shells over your breasts. So see, the opportunity is there if you’re really motivated and/or have no real emotional attachment to your legs.

I see no reason to believe that this letter is genuine. I thought most of the animators were women back then.
