Greece is like the Carribean of Europe. Those that aren't resigned to live off the government teat are looking to get the hell out of there. So, the Greek one-percenters don't spend all that much time in Greece. Athens has over 3M population, but Athens is empty in the Summer. Everybody bails to the islands. Going to, say, Mykonos in the Summer is not much different than going to Cancun during spring break...no natives and infested with New Yorkers.Going any other time than during May-September would give you a much better chance of encountering the top-shelf birds.
