Quote of the Day

I don’t know much about punishing kids, but biting your kids’ toes doesn’t seem like the best idea. Especially if you went to jail for it once already. Maybe you should pursue other options of punishment. Unless you’re an alligator or something, then it might make some sense.

Todd Wayne Hall, 36, of Rogers was convicted Tuesday for a second time of abusing a child. He was sentenced to six years in prison and assessed a $10,000 fine for biting a 5-year-old boy’s toes.

Hall testified he had no intention of abuse.

“I did not do that. … I am innocent, and that is why I took it to trial,” Hall said.

The jury considered evidence including severe bruising and cracks and holes in the boy’s toenails. The crime occurred over a span of a few years ending in 2006, according to court records.

“I did not subject (the children) to the same kind of abuse that I had,” Hall said.

In 2000, Hall pleaded guilty to second-degree battery involving an 11-month-old girl. He read the transcript of his guilty plea, revealing he “knowingly” hurt the girl by biting her.

“My intent was to stop her from crying,” Hall told the court Tuesday.
