UMP SAYS, "YOU’RE ALL OUT"

More from A. Isaac

I can’t wait to be one of those parents that brawl with opposing teams fans. Its been my dream since I left my trailer home as a kid….

But getting into it with the ump? Nah, I’ll leave that to the pros in Podunk, Iowa.

But having an umpire eject an entire crowed? Well that’s just unheard of. Or at least it was until late last week during a high school baseball game played near Des Moines, Iowa, where the umpire did throw the entire crowd out of the game.

West Burlington High was trailing Winfield Mount-Union 11-9 when things got interesting. There was a play at the plate and Winfield Mount-Union’s coach came to argue the play with the umpire. West Burlington’s coach didn’t realize time had been called, and sent his runner from third to home.

The home plate umpire, Don Briggs, sent the runner back to third. This caused West Burlington’s coach to come over and argue the play. Then the home crowd got into it.

Briggs gave a warning to both coaches — and the crowd — that they needed to settle down. A lone fan in the crowd reportedly yelled out, which was enough for Briggs: he told the crowd to leave.

I heard umps in Iowa also work for the state legislature and regularly fill in for the local sheriffs.

Way to take your $8 dollar summer job too far buddy…
