JIM HARBAUGH LIKES HIS BATHROOMS

More from A. Isaac

I know that some people consider the toilet their “throne”, but isn’t this going a little too far…

This summer, Stanford mega-donor John Arrillaga built a private luxury bathroom and shower for Harbaugh that sources said cost between $50,000 and $70,000.

The Stanford athletic department is facing a multi-million revenue shortfall. Fundraising has cratered. Team budgets are being sliced. More than 20 jobs have been eliminated through layoffs and buyouts, and at least one sport (fencing) is in danger of being cut.

So let me get this straight….So Jim Harbaugh could feel comfortable taking a huge dump after his team gets blitzed by USC 50-0, 20 people had to lose their job?

Something stinks in Palo Alto…And I don’t mean the bathroom either.

If Harbaugh's costs that much, I can't imagine what the price tag was for Mark Mangino's toilet. After all, he has to employ a full-time blind, midget eunich to keep his "private areas" clean since he's too rotund to do it himself.

No one lost their job because of Jim's bathroom. The donor could have chosen to give the money to the school's athletic fund, but s/he (presumably he) decided to build what had better be an amzaing, out-of-this-world bathroom for the football coach. Sad, but let's not blame Jim for it. Blame the folks whose responsibility it is to court the donors. Someone's not doing their job…

While *I* would never spend 50k on a single bathroom, I'm not surprised a college can spend that much. Colleges (until maybe recently) have never had any impetus to reduce costs on anything they do – one of the reasons the costs of college has skyrocketed over the last ten years or so.

Still, it is a pretty odd way to support your alma mater/whatever
