While *I* would never spend 50k on a single bathroom, I'm not surprised a college can spend that much. Colleges (until maybe recently) have never had any impetus to reduce costs on anything they do – one of the reasons the costs of college has skyrocketed over the last ten years or so.Still, it is a pretty odd way to support your alma mater/whatever

No one lost their job because of Jim's bathroom. The donor could have chosen to give the money to the school's athletic fund, but s/he (presumably he) decided to build what had better be an amzaing, out-of-this-world bathroom for the football coach. Sad, but let's not blame Jim for it. Blame the folks whose responsibility it is to court the donors. Someone's not doing their job…

If Harbaugh's costs that much, I can't imagine what the price tag was for Mark Mangino's toilet. After all, he has to employ a full-time blind, midget eunich to keep his "private areas" clean since he's too rotund to do it himself.
