Oklahoma is known for a lot of things…football, great barbecue, um…starting with an O…but now you can add one more thing to the list, Oklahoma: The State Where You’ll Get Publicly Outed if You Get an Abortion. I’m not sure if that’ll fit on license plates or not.
Feminists for Choice alerts us to a new Oklahoma law (yes, law, not “proposed legislation” or “some kind of sick joke”) set to go into effect Nov. 1 that would collect detailed data about each abortion performed — and post it all on a public Web site called ShameOnYouWhore.com.
Whether or not the law survives a current lawsuit, experts say, anyone tracking antiabortion legal strategy nationwide needs to keep a watchful eye on Oklahoma.
According to proponents of the law, this extensive abortion data — which will include the reason the procedure was sought — will help health officials prevent future abortions. Yeah, I can see that. Because the requirement itself would scare the crap out of me. “They’re really just trying to frighten women out of having abortions,” Keri Parks, director of external affairs at Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma, told Broadsheet.
That is pretty awful. Whether you’re pro-life or not, I think most people would have to admit that this is pretty outlandish to completely take away a woman’s rights like this. No joke here, this is just sad.
I guess I can’t judge since I have a similar list published monthly. It’s called my bank statement.

So I’m from Oklahoma, and yes I think that’s shitty. But, let’s get real here, any sort of proposed “legislation” that violates patient/doctor privacy rights isn’t going to fly no matter what the procedure. I hate seeing things like this about Oklahoma because it really is a decently diverse place and pretty laid back, despite what political pundits convey. There are a lot of religious people that are very passionate, true, but posting these outrages about legislature (that won’t last five minutes and no one HERE will care about) isn’t improving the image of oklahoma(ns), nor is it helpful to the “cause.” If you lived here and wanted to actually do something about it, then sure, I can see how this article would be relevent. Don’t eat pork.” A serious issue, laced with exaggeration, lies, and misinformation. Good writing skills. I’m glad at least the Femenists for Choice are doing their homework.

Ok lets be honest, if you are going to get an abortion, you may not be a whore. You could be married. However, in same cases it may be true, I don’t believe I would go about it like this. Not that I’m concerned about their feelings in any sense but because it’s going to make matters worse.
When you get an abortion you are stopping the progress of life. You’re taking the future of someone away from them. In my eyes that’s the same thing as killing. The reason why killing is immoral, besides the fact some insane people do it for pleasure, is because you are stepping in front of God and saying “It’s my right.” You can’t get anymore self centered.
Instead I think they should make it a list of murderers. You know, since it is true.

Brent it can be argued a fetus is not a living thing because it cannot sustain itself. Believing a fetus is a living thing right from the moment of conception is a religious belief. And while that might make these women “murderers” in your eyes it does not to many other people including myself.
Just because an abortion is against you’re religious beliefs shouldn’t stop women from having it. I think the option to have an abortion is a right, despite going against some peoples religious beliefs. It is the womens body and she should be able to choose what is right for her. She should also have the right to keep these things private. It is not like she owes anybody an explanation anyways.

Even if you don’t think a fetus is alive (which it is, there is actually no debate on that)you cannot deny the fact that you are preventing what will become a life, and you are stopping the process in which that happens after it has started. The baby is actually not her body, it is it’s own body. The baby grows from the nutrients the woman eats, but that is not to say that it is the woman’s body. While it may be her possession the genes are half mother, half father. So if you have to argue it that way, then both the mother and the father of the child should have to agree one way or another. The Only exception I see is if the mother will die. While if it was me, I would personally give up my life for the baby, because I value human life. I think that should be the only exception for abortion, and the likely hood of her life being in trouble is reallllllly really small.
Also, I would just like to thank you for showing how stupid I am by arguing my point with logic where your support for your opinion comes from calling me stupid. that’s great. Also, saying that you know 100% that God or Jesus don’t exist is just as ignorant as me saying that I KNOW 100% that they do exist.

so smart. It can’t live by itself, that makes it not living…. oh wait. So if a soldier gets shot in an artery and cannot live without the medical attention of someone else, he’s no longer living from the moment the bullet hits him.. even if he’s on the ground calling for help? That makes sense.
Once again it can debated if a fetus is alive or not. It could be said life begins when something can sustain itself. For me the fetus is not living because outside of the mother it could never begin to live; it’s not developed enough. When the fetus has become mature enough to survive outside of the womb it is a living thing. Up until then it is developing into a life form. Meaning it’s not yet a life form.
If a soldier gets shot in the leg he is still living because despite the fact he is dying he can still sustain himself, even if his time is very limited. A fully developed and mature human being is the opposite of a fetus in many ways. Including the fact the soldier is living and the fetus is not.
The women has to live with the fetus maturing inside of her. It is her burden to give birth to it and if she does not want that burden she can have an abortion as it should be. It might not be “fair” that the man has so little say but that’s just the way it goes.
PS Basing something as serious as a potential life (and the lifestyle of the pregnant women) on faith in a devine being alone is nuts.
