Sports talk show host Jim Rome thought it would be a good idea to host his radio show from the Breeders Cup Friday. You see, Rome owns a horse named “Royal Punisher” and he wanted to highlight the race that day. Unfortunately, millions of “clones” tuned in for one of the most epic radio fails of all-time as Rome’s horse finished dead last.
Yes, after performing somewhat well in the beginning of the race and around the first turn, Royal Punisher fell all the way to the back of the pack.
When you combine it with South Park’s spoof of his Jim Everett interview earlier in the week, I think its fair to say that Jim Rome wants to forget last week entirely.
Here is the South Park Clip (around the 1:30 mark)
And of course, this is the infamous confrontation with Rams QB Jim Everett

Umm, i think you’re overstating things a bit much. Rome didn’t have any high expectations going into the race. He didn’t broadcast from there because he thought he’d be airing a victory. He’s just trying to spread some coverage to a sport that he loves and needs a little spotlight. As for South Park, that’s a reference, not a jab. They certainly didnt make Rome look bad.
