VIDEO: Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams receive Oscar nominations

The nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards were announced. Martin Scorsese’s Hugo received 11 nominations, The Artist garnered 10 nominations, while George Clooney, for The Descendants, and Brad Pitt, for Moneyball, each received best actor noms.

Rooney Mara was nominated for her role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Michelle Williams received her nomination for playing Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, and Meryl Streep received a record 17th nomination for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

The Oscars will air on ABC, Sunday, Feb. 26, at 7pm ET from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre. Billy Crystal will be the event’s host for the ninth time and for the first time in eight years.
