Bill Shatner names his price: $600,000,000 for commercial work

Shawn Norris

The man who played Captain James T. Kirk on the cult television show Star Trek can now afford to build his own U.S.S. Enterprise, as his deal with online travel site Priceline has netted the actor over $600 million in revenue for his commercial services.

Shatner took the (almost no) risk and the back-end points on a deal with Priceline and $600,000,000– you have to be freaking kidding me! There was no risk at all. He probably has 30 minutes of work invested in these commercial. TOPS!

Well, I guess there is an important lesson to this story: If you have limited looks, limited talent, and limited options, it’s more fiscally responsible to make fun of yourself in television commercials than to give lectures at science fiction conventions. And if you really need a negotiator–get William Shatner’s agent.
