Chelsea Handler to host VMAs

The host of the late night E! talk show Chelsea Lately will take the helm of this year’s MTV VMA Awards on Sept 12th. She’s not exactly Russell Brand but she’s close enough to keep the censors on their toes. Handler is known for off-color humor from her books and television show, where she mostly takes pot shots at celebrities in the news — most of whom will probably be at the MTV VMAs. So it ought to make for somewhat compelling television as Handler is never one to shy away from a uncomfortable joke or awkward situation, and it seems like with her attitude and an open bar for all in attendance, we could see another Kanye West situation on the horizon.

So why did MTV choose her? “This has been a huge year for hip-hop and rap, and it is well-known that I have the closest ties with these communities — musically and sexually,”

Can’t wait to hear Kanye scream: “I’ma let you finish, but Johnny Carson was the greatest late-night host of all-time. ALL-TIME!”
