EliteXC/CBS Saturday Night Fights highlights

In the main event for the middleweight championship Robbie Lawler was cut in the second round when inexplicably Scott Smith basically quit fighting.

In the women’s event, highly touted Shayna Baszler took a beating from Brazilian Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos, setting up what should be a great bout between Cyborg and Gina Carano.

In other action, Jake Shields submitted Nick Thompson early in round one to win the welterweight championship, while in what I considered the fight of the night, Nick Diaz TKO’d Thomas Denny in a big-time slugefest.
