Years ago when the Internet was becoming a fixture in the average household rather than a toy for tech geeks, mainstream media was filled with stories promising that one day everything would run off the Internet pipeline. Unfortunately, as it turns out, they were right.

R.I.P. — It’s been a solemn year for celebrity deaths. But there were also those influential, inspiring, or simply fascinating people who were not nearly as famous, but should be saluted nonetheless for their great feats. Here are 10 not-so-famous people we also lost in 2011.

Auld Lang Syne — As 2011 winds down and we all enjoy looking back at the previous year and remembering all the panicked moments that occurred. Guess what? Those things are going to happen again. More specifically, the Sam Houston State cheerleaders.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

The second trailer for Nicolas Cage’s latest epic, Marvel’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, was released this week. I know I should never admit this, but I am kind of geeked to see it.

Presents for Everyone — Put a Santa suit on a blonde British babe, replace the fur with super-shiny latex, jack the cleavage up to here and wedge the thong up to there, and boom, you’ve got Saffron Taylor. … Speaking of sexy ladies and the holidays, why would dozens of (very attractive) women be out in the cold wearing nothing but bikinis this time of year?
