mel gibson jackass No jail time for Mel Gibson, for some reason And the state of California’s justice system comes through strong again as Mel Gibson will not serve any jail time for his alleged assault on Oksana Grigorieva, despite the fact that he admitted in court documents that he did, in fact, assault her… in front of her young son, Sasha. JUSTICE!

“One major reason why this case was being brought against Mel Gibson, more than a year after the alleged incident took place, is because Sasha was made available to testify at a potential criminal trial against Mel,” a source close to the case told RadarOnline.com. “Sasha’s involvement and cooperation in the case was absolutely essential, and because he is a minor, both of his parents had to agree to let him participate, and that took some time to make happen.”

Rather than go to court where Mel was concerned that his daughter Lucia and the rest of his children would be put through too much (you know, because he’s such a f-cking family man), Mel decided to plea out.

Mel’s lawyer, Blair Berk, released this statement to TMZ:

“I know from almost 20 years as a criminal defense lawyer that sometimes justice can come for a client at too high a personal price. That is particularly so for Mel, whose right to due process can only be exercised in this case with an enormous media circus attached.”

Berk goes on, “Mel’s priority throughout all of this has been that the best interests of his young daughter Lucia and the rest of his children be put first in any decisions made. It is with only that in mind that he asked me to approach the District Attorney with a proposal that would bring all of this to an immediate end.”

Oh well, the evidence was flimsy at best. I mean, when a guy screams at a woman, “You’re an embarrassment to me … you look like a f-cking pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n—ers, it will be your fault.” and “I am going to come and burn the f-cking house down… but you will blow me first!” who would ever think he’d be capable of punching a woman and holding her by the throat in front of her son?

Mel is set to appear in court on Friday and will plead no contest to simple battery and go on with his life unfettered. I guess now I see why Charlie Sheen likes Mel so much. He gets over. Is it any wonder that Lindsay Lohan keeps committing crimes and getting off scott-free? When you consider the magnitude of her crimes versus Mel’s I’m surprised they just didn’t make her go sit in a time-out for 10 minutes and call it a day. You suck, California.
