News of a new ‘Bill and Ted’ movie is most excellent
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K, dude. Keanu Reeves says he and Alex Winter (Bill) are trying very hard to get a new Bill and Ted movie off the ground. It’s going to be about the two time traveling through the Matrix while looking for Benjamin Button.

Say what you will about Keanu Reeves’ acting chops, but at least the dude still seems normal and cool after all these years. Usually writers have to pull actors back into reprising a role that, shall we say, wasn’t exactly Othello at the Sydney Opera House.
“We’re trying. Alex and I are still friends and we’re talking, and we’re talking to Chris and Ed,” Reeves said. “They’re going to try and see if they can write something. To me, I’d love to play the role. I’d love to work with Alex and Chris and Ed again.”
Most excellent. Almost 25 years later, Bill and Ted may reunite for one more tour with Wyld Stallyns. Sure it’s not the best movie of the past few decades (not even on most of the lists), but it would be interesting to see these two characters some half a century later and whether or not they still keep in contact with Genghis Khan.
Whether or not Matheson and Solomon hit on an idea that is worthwhile, of course, is only the first of many questions surrounding the chance that another “Bill and Ted” becomes a reality. But it’s worth noting, as well, how darn enthusiastic Reeves is about the project.
Seems to me that if Keanu really wanted to get this done, he would. He has Matrix money — he still receives large checks of Matrix money, from the bank, not from the Matrix. He’s an A-list star that is an automatic green light when he walks into a studio, so if he wants a new Bill and Ted movie, he shouldn’t have any problems getting something like that financed and distributed. Keanu also shouldn’t have a lot of trouble getting back into character, either. And you know the guy that played Bill isn’t doing anything because nobody has seen him since ‘93 — so the gang would seem all aboard at this point.
I don’t see why we can’t expect the last film of the trilogy happening in the next few years. I mean, I seriously doubt the man is going Oscar hunting anytime soon and that leaves a lot of time for sequels.
