Can we stop with this whole “Director’s Cut” BS, please? Just put it in theaters. I was a little disappointed by Prometheus – even though it was a visual feast, there was a lot about the story that didn’t make sense, from weird motivations for the characters to the somewhat muddled mythology behind it. But, of course, the home release gives Ridley Scott a chance to rectify the situation.

The director spoke with Collider about the possibility of deleted scenes, and he responded in the serious affirmative. Apparently the DVD and Blu-Ray releases, expected to land sometime in October of this year, will contain between 20 and 30 minutes more footage, including a number of scenes that were talked about while the cast was promoting the film but never seen.

One that came up in the interview is a scene where Noomi Rapace’s character actually engages in physical combat with the Engineer with an axe. Scott’s reason for cutting it sounds perfectly good, but it still sounds like it would be neat to see. What do you think? Would more footage make Prometheus a better movie?

What'd you think of this?
