In the books, Jack Reacher is a huge bruiser of a man. In this trailer? He’s Tom Cruise. Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series of books star a powerful, hulking behemoth of a man, a drifter who wanders the Earth punching the crap out of whatever nefarious jerks cross his path. So why, exactly, would Tom Cruise buy the rights to this and cast himself? Lord only knows, but the first trailer for Jack Reacher is out. As a fan of the books, this movie looks to be missing the point in just about every way imaginable, existing only for Cruise to try to play a badass and redeem his image as a weird alien brainwashing nutcase.
