WOLVERINES!!!!! When you talk about movies that got horribly delayed, the Red Dawn remake is certainly one that comes to mind. This sucker was supposed to come out in 2010, for God’s sake.

The original flick is an 80s classic, telling the story of a sudden Communist invasion of the United States and the ragtag group of guerrillas who try to repulse it and fail heroically. The new version was first announced in 2008, starring Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck, but it started encountering problems from the beginning. Originally, the villainous country that invades America was China, but guess what? Chinese people are seeing a lot of movies nowadays and spending a lot of money. When Chinese media picked up on the movie, MGM (then producing the film) backpedaled and went back for reshoots and post-production CGI to cast North Korea as the invader instead. Probably a good choice, as Red Dawn isn’t likely to play there.

In addition, MGM had other problems – the venerable movie studio entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in 2010, seriously hosing the films that it had on its slate. It’s crawling back from the wreckage now, but every film needs to make money to keep the company from crashing and burning again.

Anyways, that’s a lot of stuff about the movie and not much about the poster, because the poster isn’t really all that interesting. Ooh, white folks with guns. Never seen that one before.

Red Dawn opens November 21st.
