Is Jamie Foxx the new ‘Spider-Man’ villain?
Not playing himself, obviously. Or Ray Charles. That would just be weird. So it’s a given that Amazing Spider-Man is getting two sequels, but things are going to change in Peter Parker’s universe. Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in the first movie, has only been signed for one more movie, not two. Since her death in the comics was one of the most important moment in Spidey’s life, smart money is on Gwen biting the big one in this next movie. That would lead us to believe that the villain of the sequel would be the Green Goblin, right?
Well, no. Geeks of Doom is reporting that the villain will be Maxwell Dillon, also known as Electro. And that the actor most strongly in consideration for the role is Jamie Foxx. Sure, he’s a white guy in the comics but so was Nick Fury, right?
This would fit in with the post-credits scene from Amazing Spider-Man, in which a shadowy figure appeared to Dr. Curt Connors in his jail cell accompanied by flashes of lightning. I can’t remember ever seeing Jamie Foxx play a villain before, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Foxx himself seems to be having fun with the rumors, Tweeting on Halloween:
Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.

Electro has always been sort of a B-lister, despite his awesome powers, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony still had a trick or two up their sleeve with the Amazing Spider-Man sequel and we might see the Green Goblin after all. Gwen Stacy’s not going to fall off that bridge by herself, you know!
