Good news for the long-delayed dino flick. It’s been ten years since Steven Spielberg first told us that he was producing Jurassic Park IV. A lot has happened in those ten years – sexting! Lady Gaga! First Black President! – but one thing that hasn’t happened was a damn script being written for the movie.

At Comic-Con last year, Spielberg thrilled crowds by announcing that the wheels were once again in motion on the flick, which kicks off what’s planned to be a new trilogy of Jurassic Park movies. At the time, Mark Protosevich (Thor) was the penman tagged to write the movie, but a recent announcement reveals that he’s off the project.

Deadline is reporting that the new scriptwriters are Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, fresh off the success of Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. This is a pretty brilliant move on Universal’s part – that movie transcended the typical “monsters go wild” summer blockbuster by tying in real emotional weight, so hopefully the pair can do the same for Jurassic Park. The flick’s release date still isn’t set, but if you want a little refresher, Universal is re-releasing the original Park in 3D on July 19th.
