12 year-old saves friend from choking thanks to SpongeBob Squarepants
Oh television, what can’t you do? A 12 year-old girl from Long Island is saying that her heroics in saving a friend from choking during music class is all thanks to the important life lessons of “SpongeBob Squarepants.”
Miriam Starobin noticed her best friend, Allyson Golden, choking on her gum during their music class on Tuesday. Clarobin recalled an episode of “Spongebob” in which the titular sponge had to retrieve a clarinet that got stuck in the surly squid Squidward’s throat.
Starobin performed a picture-perfect Heimlich maneuver on her friend and dislodged the gum.
“Her hands were around her throat and she’s turning purple and I’m going, ‘Oh my God,’” Starobin said to an ABC News reporter.
And they say TV rots kids’ brains. Psh.
I’ve also learned a lot from “SpongeBob Squarepants.” For example, did you know that not only can squirrels exist underwater, but that they can also be astronauts? Really helps you see that the squirrels in your neighborhood are just shiftless drains on society.
