Jersey Shore producers are about to get sued
A New Jersey Judge will hear a lawsuit pertaining to the alleged “criminal enterprise” that is “Jersey Shore.”
Producers of the hit MTV Show “Jersey Shore” have no reason to be fist pumping today. On Friday, a Superior Court judge decided not to throw out a case involving producers, which basically stated that said producers had purposely attempted to get cast members into fights so the show would receive higher ratings.
A judge in New Jersey has agreed to hear a lawsuit that claims producers of MTV’s hit reality show “Jersey Shore” engaged in a “criminal enterprise” by profiting from showing fights that cast members deliberately provoked.
Look, I worked in reality television for quite awhile, and I can say that this lawsuit probably won’t hold that much water. The contracts that these people sign in order to be on television are pretty airtight and basically put any and all responsibility square on the shoulders of each cast member. Sure, it may be nice to see a couple of wealthy producers get their butts handed to them in court for somewhat taking advantage of a few Jersey residents and morally degrading society, but chances are that the blame will end up falling on the cast members and this suit will get tossed out of court. I mean, if they are anything like they were on TV this season, it won’t be hard to prove that a history of drunken brawling was an inevitability. It’s also interesting that the three men in the suit aren’t suing the cast member they got in a fight with and decided to sue MTV. This just looks like a money grab to me.
No word on how much money is involved in the case, but an out-of-court settlement of free self tanner for life was vehemently shot down by a pair of orange lawyers.
