One of my favorite new shows on TV is Important Things with Demetri Martin. It’s definitely comedy that veers on the intellectual so it may not be for everyone, but it’s extremely well done. For example, this sketch from last night of a kid applying to college actually having dinner with three historical figures hits all the right chords.
I kind of hate seeing people so funny without being mean-spirited or hurtful because it makes me think, “Gosh, why is most of my comedy derived from hurting others?” And then I trip a fat person on crutches and give myself a high five because tearing down the weak makes me feel oh so good. I’m going to keep riding on the ol’ Delusion Train until it doesn’t run any more (primarily due to anti-depressants or my comeuppance’s long overdue arrival)! Choo choo!
