Arizona governor uses puppet video to defend new immigration law
Unless you’ve been detained at Gitmo the last month or so, you’ve caught wind of Arizona’s new immigration law. A brief summary for the politically naive…
The law would require the police “when practicable” to detain people they reasonably suspected were in the country without authorization. It would also allow the police to charge immigrants with a state crime for not carrying immigration documents. And it allows residents to sue cities if they believe the law is not being enforced.
The law has created quite a stir around the country Everyone from President Obama to Rush Limbaugh to the NBA’s Phoenix Suns have had something to say about it. Ironically, most of the opinions are coming from politicians who have yet to even view the law itself. An ignorance our forefathers would be quite proud of.
Arizona governor Jan Brewer took to the airwaves to help sell the notion that people are forming an opinion without reading the bill. And the commercial hilariously includes a frog puppet. Nothing says I’m going to take you seriously than a Kermit-the-Frog lookalike.
