Boob-themed Hooters and Canz restaurants duel in Long Island

Chris Spags Founder and Editor

When you think of a place to get mediocre wings served to you by moderately educated women with their ass hanging out, you think Hooters. One new restaurant out of Long Island, coyly named Canz, is trying to change that. And it’s leading to an interesting feud.

canz girls 180x214 Boob themed Hooters and Canz restaurants duel in Long IslandCanz was started by Long Island natives Tim Lorito and Matthew Dill after the duo realized that “no one has ever challenged Hooters.”

And challenge they have. Lorito and Dill’s start-up poached over 25 waitresses from their more famous rival, opening locations miles away from Long Island’s Hooters locations.

The duo says their difference is that they treat the girls better, not requiring things like covering up tattoos, approval for new hair styles, or daily weight checks.

Canz employees claim that representatives of the local Hooters establishments have responded by attempting to film Canz waitresses to figure out what’s making them more successful.

A team of waitresses from Hooters was also dispatched to the Canz in Westbury, LI to try to solicit customers over to Hooters before security had to physically escort them out.

The Canz boys are right that it is a bit odd that, after decades, no one has ever viably challenged Hooters’ boob-related dive bar/junk food monopoly. But that said, we probably don’t even know about all the small scale attempts that have been snuffed out. Hooters may very well be the Nazi regime of big boobed chicken wings suppliers, but their formula has obviously worked fairly well. If I were Lorito and Dill, I’d be watching my back to make sure I don’t end up with the head of a busty wench in my bed.

Still…Canz? Really? I’m all for ditching the pretense but ugh. At least make it sort of ironic and call it “Tits ‘n’ Wings” or something. Or “Not Quite Desperate Enough to Strip BBQ Co.” I’d be down for that.
