Botswana’s bachelor president Ian Khama: No fat chicks
I’ll admit I haven’t been keeping up as much with my Botswanan politics as much as I should, but single President Ian Khama is making headlines for recent comments about what he doesn’t want in a future wife. Mostly, no fat chicks.
The 57-year-old Khama hasn’t been married before, but at a recent meeting with members of his political party, he said he needs a future wife who is tall, slim, and beautiful. Khama claims he’s too busy to find a wife himself, so he’s dispatching his aides to handle the task.
According to ABC News, Khama then:
[P]ointed to the Assistant Minister of Local Government Botlhogile Tshreletso and said, “I don’t want one like this one. She may fail to pass through the door, breaking furniture with her heavy weight and even break the vehicle’s shock absorbers.”
The joke got a laugh from everyone in the room, even the female Assistant Minister he was poking fun at [ED. NOTE: I'm sure that was a genuine laugh, not one at all made to cover up tears].
“There were some critics that said he shouldn’t have said the assistant minister was fat,” a Botswanan reporter said. “He should withdraw his statement because it’s negative against women.”
Khama is known as a rebel in his country and isn’t likely to make any apologies. Nor should he. He’s a powerful dude who heads up one of the world’s biggest growing countries that many women around the world would probably not mind a piece of. If he wants a girl who looks like a stick figure with boobs drawn on, then his people should support him, his commitment to excellence, and his disdain for the women of his country who look like Herve Villechaize.
