Colorado man brings baby daughter to cocaine deal

Parenting is one of the most difficult life changes a person can make in his or her life is deciding to raise a child. But the people most successful in balancing parenting and their own life are the ones who find a way to make both work. So, really, this man who brought his 14-month-old daughter to a cocaine drop is a wonderful human being. We just haven’t realized it yet.

CocainePowder1 234x214 Colorado man brings baby daughter to cocaine dealSeven people were arrested in Colorado Springs as part of an undercover drug sting, including a man who brought his 14-month-old daughter to a cocaine drop.

Four men were arrested at about 11 a.m. Wednesday in a fast-food parking lot at 535 Airport Creek Point as they delivered an ounce of cocaine to an undercover detective, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter.

Jacob Paladino, 20, Joshua Morgan, 20, Jeremy Madrid, 19, and David Arthur, 22, arrived in two separate vehicles to the drop-off spot, police said.

When arrested, Arthur had marijuana in a pipe in his lap and his 14-month-old daughter with him, police said. Madrid, a passenger in the car Arthur was driving, was carrying a loaded .25 caliber handgun.

A situation in which you’re exchanging money for cocaine might not be the safest thing on Earth, no matter what viral “Scarface” children’s plays tell us. But while drug dealers and buyers aren’t the most scrupulous people around, I’d have to imagine you’d feel less inclined to have a shootout if you see a baby hanging out and cooing. It takes a scumbag to be dealing mass amounts of drugs in the first place, but it takes an almost unconscionable a-hole to initiate a shootout with an adorable baby feet away.

At the same time, this baby is getting a first hand education on how things go. How else is she going to learn about the underground cocaine economy? They don’t teach those lessons at school, no matter how many times I call sniffing repeatedly, grinding my teeth, and telling them about my poorly founded business ideas.
