Four-year-old gets herpes from used condom in hotel

It’s important to use protection when having sex. It’s generally advised to not let a child puts his mouth on the condom afterwards, though. Lesson learned for one Atlanta family.

condom3 309x195 Four year old gets herpes from used condom in hotel Carmen Jones’ 4-year-old grandson accompanied her on a trip to Atlanta. But when Jones went to the bathroom for a second, Jones said he found a used condom in their hotel bed which has now relocated itself to the child’s mouth.

Jones told CBS in Atlanta:

“I ran out the bathroom and my grandson had a condom in his mouth. His tongue was in the condom and he was trying to blow it up,” said Jones.

But bodily fluids weren’t the only thing in the condom…Jones’ grandson also got a raging case of oral herpes shortly after (but fortunately no HIV or any other STDs).

“When the cold sores were active, he wanted to give me a kiss, especially in the hospital. I said, ‘no sweetie — you know — not in the mouth, you can’t kiss mommy.’ He said, ‘mommy you don’t love me anymore?’ And so, it was very, very — very hurtful,” said Jones.

It’s unclear where the condom came from. I’m going to go on a limb and guess the Herpes Fairy.

I don’t want to beat up on a 4-year-old because it’s obviously a really crappy situation that has permanent implications and wasn’t his fault. But at the same time, even if I were four, I don’t think I’d just magically assume hotel beds came with balloons filled with strudel. That’s just impractical, even by little kid logic. At least the “balloon” didn’t burst all over his face, though. Good luck explaining that one to local police.
