Man fakes death to avoid “driving without a license” charge
Successfully faking one’s death seems like a good idea if you’re really in trouble because, hey, who can stay mad at a dead guy? But there are times to fake your death and times not to. When you get caught for driving without a license…that’s probably not a time to indulge in the fakery.
According to My Fox DC:
The Gloucester Times reports that 42-year-old Michael Rosen of Salem sent a man to court last week to file a certificate showing that Rosen had died the previous week. Afterward, a judge dismissed the traffic case.
But a suspicious probation officer heard from a colleague in a neighboring town that Rosen had checked in four days after he purportedly died. Additional investigation showed the certificate contained spelling errors in the place of birth, cause of death, and the cemetery. City officials confirmed the document was a fake, lacking a raised seal and printed on the wrong kind of paper.
Rosen now faces additional charges of forgery and counterfeiting.
Here are some other situations Mr. Rosen may wish to explore faking his death to avoid:
-Dentist’s appointment
-Dinner with his parents
-Being asked to help a neighbor throw out a couch
-McDonald’s announcing the one day return of the McRib
-Local craft store being out of yarn
Because he’s silly, you see.
If you’re planning on faking your death, I’m going to advocate that maybe you should move further than one town away. That’s the “faking your death” equivalent of when you play Hide and Seek with a little kid and they just put a blanket over their head.
