Man gets reported to police after sewing up his own leg in ER

A man in Sweden was reported to police this weekend after he grew weary of waiting in an emergency room and decided to sew his own leg up using hospital equipment. That didn’t go over too well with the folks at the hospital.
waiting room Man gets reported to police after sewing up his own leg in ER We’ve probably all spent some time waiting patiently in an emergency room setting,  biding our time until we can get something checked, sewn back on x-rayed. But when a man in Sweden got tired of waiting, he found a few medical supplies lying around and decided to go Doogie Howser on everyone and stitch his gash himself.

After an hour-long wait in a treatment room, he lost patience and proceeded to sew up his own wound. ”They had set out a needle and thread and so I decided to take the matter into my hands,” he said.

A lot of times you are in an emergency room and it’s not necessarily an emergency, but come on, you have to give this guy credit for being a do-it-yourselfer. I’ve had to re-attach part of a thumb with super glue once, but this guy had no numbing or pain pills, just a needle and some thread and he was (almost) as good as new. But the doctors at the hospital were not impressed at being shown up in their own ER.

But hospital staff were not as impressed by his initiative and have reported the man on suspicion of arbitrary conduct for having used hospital equipment without authorization.

That seems unnecessary and petty, especially for a place that leaves needles and stitching thread just lying in the hospital. What did you expect the guy to do? It almost seems like an invitation to perform your own surgical procedure. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get this kidney stapled back in before I black out.
