Man wins the lottery a day after getting divorced
In most civilized countries, divorce typically doesn’t end well financially for the male. But here’s one situation where a divorce ended in the best possible outcome…a British man, down on his luck after getting officially divorced, played the lottery to cheer himself up. And — surprise! — he won.
A BUS driver netted more than £2million on the lottery a DAY after his divorce came through.
Kevin Halstead, 50, went out for a pint with pals after his decree absolute arrived in the post last Friday.
He bought a lottery ticket the next day – and was gobsmacked when his lucky numbers came up later that evening.
Kevin could have been forced to hand half the £2,302,668 to ex-wife Helen if the divorce had taken just a few days longer.
Ex Helen said: “We are the best of friends. In fact, we get on better now than when we were married.
“It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke. I wish him all the luck in the world – he deserves it.”
I’m sure this woman is putting up a fake front just to appear magnanimous. There’s no way you get a divorce and your ex wins the lottery the next day and you go, “Well I’m genuinely happy for him!” Unless she’s receiving a thorough boffing from a billionaire while giving that quote, I’d have to imagine that statement was made through clenched teeth. Half of a lottery win is easily worth one more day of yelling followed by awkward silence followed by more yelling.
The only way this would have been better is if a man with a really crappy job had won. I mean come on, how many breaks does this one guy need? He gets to drive a bus for a living! I’m sure he’ll just put his lottery winnings next to his already astounding collection of gold bars and delightful memories of homeless people urinating feet away from him.
