One of the things I DO NOT understand about professional sports teams is the fact that with so many talented graphic designers and artists out there, who love the games these teams play, why are so many new, alternate, and redesigned uniforms, logos, and helmets so freaking bad?
We have seen it time and time again – a fan with serious artistic skills and a creative mind can do so much better. (Looking at you, Los Angeles Rams.)
For example, this week, a graphic artist named Ted Hyman, who obviously is missing sports as much as the rest of us, went nuts and created numerous alternative helmet designs for all 32 NFL teams and almost without exception, his creations are better than what the teams’ are currently using.
For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently unveiled “new” uniforms that, honestly, weren’t all that great, or different.
Here’s Hyman’s idea for a couple of new Bucs helmet designs.
The Atlanta Falcons also released a look at their new gear, which got roasted.
Hyman’s helmet designs?
The Cleveland Browns announced they were changing their uniform design… again, but Hyman’s helmet design ideas are far better than anything they’ve come up with since, well, ever.
The Indianapolis Colts came up with a new logo… or stole it from a local high school, depending on who you ask, but they could have just gone with this change in look…
The New England Patriots announced they would be going with their Color Rush uniforms for home games in 2020. Lame. Here’s another option…
And the Rams, well, we all know how everyone felt about the Rams’ new logo design. Had they gone with Hyman’s design you would have needed a fire extinguisher to put out all the fire reactions.
Like I said… these sports league could do so much better if they just hooked up with a few talented and creative fans.
