What looked like a scene straight from the movie Titanic was actually a real-life misery for passengers on a Carnival Cruise ship. A seven-day trip on the Carnival Dream turned out to be a nightmare. Videos from guests on the Carnival Dream show hundreds of gallons of water gushing into hallways after a pipe burst.

What many had hoped to be a dream vacation turned into anything but after a pipe burst, flooding hallways on Thursday. Several passengers onboard were able to share the scary scenes on social media. The scary part is that if you didn’t know that there was a pipe burst that you might think that the boat was sinking and rightfully so.

“Um….FB folks…..this is a rare moment of internet connection ….we are flooding on a cruise, we heard the violins and the silverware all came crashing down,” Dream passenger Marla DeAnn Haase wrote on Facebook as she shared videos and photos of the scary situation. “What in the world….say a prayer for is [sic] all.”

The cruise ship wasn’t sinking but rather there was a break in the vessel’s fire suppression system. Water poured into the hallways and flooded about 50 staterooms. Carnival Cruises said that passengers who were affected by the water line break will receive a full refund, plus a 50% credit toward a future cruise. On the bright side at least it wasn’t a sewage line.

The Carnival Dream departed from New Orleans on April 29 and is due back to the port on Sunday morning after traveling to Cozumel and Belize. This comes only months after the Norweigan Breakaway sailed into the bomb cyclone weather pattern that left numerous passengers sick.
