Pregnant 11 year-old gives birth on her wedding day

Women often dream of having the perfect wedding day. Flowers, a beautiful place, and popping out a child before you’re in middle school, like this 11 year-old Bulgarian girl who gave birth during her wedding day.

Kordeza Zhelyazkova became pregnant two weeks before her 11th birthday and was set to marry boyfriend Jeliazko Dimitrov, 19, when she went into labor during her three-day wedding last month.

“I’m not going to play with toys any more — I have a new toy now,” Zhelyazkova told Britain’s News of the World newspaper .

The bride-to-be was still wearing her wedding dress and tiara when she arrived at a hospital to give birth to daughter Violeta.

She admitted that she had not known about sex education or even how to get pregnant. She presumed she was putting on weight from eating too many burgers until her grandmother suggested she was pregnant.

Zhelyazkova met Dimitrov in the playground of her school when he rescued her from bullies. Their daughter was conceived within a week. Dimitrov now faces up to six years in jail for having sex with a minor.

Ah, love on the playground. I think we’ve all been there. It’s socially preferable that you’re not a part of it when you’re almost 20 years-old, but hey, it’s Bulgaria. Reports say that a significant portion of girls get married between 14 and 17 there. The Bulgarian version of Hustler probably has girls in diapers parading around in their Barely Legal edition. When you’re in college, Bulgarian fraternities have mixers with Girl Scouts. Miss Bulgaria just lost her first tooth and is anticipating getting 1 lev under her pillow from the Tooth Fairy. It’s a different culture, man, one we can’t possibly understand. At least Dimitrov married her in the hopes of making her into an honest, um, little girl.

That said, it must have been awkward to have the mother put into an incubator with her newborn child. In Soviet Bulgaria, baby gives birth to you!
