Those darned hipsters just won’t stop until they ironically take everything lame and make it edgy and dangerous. Now, the hot new hipster trend emerging in the UK is, get this, bingo. Strap on your flannel shirt and douchebag fedora, it’s bingo night!

Rebel Bingo is “dangerous and addictive,” reads an email sent to a few hundred people just hours before the game begins at a secret location in West London. “The authorities are after us so we have to keep these meetings secret,” the email warns.

It’s Friday night and it’s bingo time…with a twist. The game, whose roots can be traced as far back as the 16th century, is getting a massive makeover in the U.K., luring younger participants, often in their early 20s.

A youthful crowd quietly enters a secret venue in West London. (“If anyone asks, you are not coming to play Rebel Bingo, you are coming to a NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING,” the email says. “Make sure you are not followed on your way there.”)

“The grannies in the church had a bingo wheel, and a couple of girls started playing with the bingo balls, and it was great fun. We all got involved with it,” [club co-founder] Mr. Gordon says. “It gradually seemed that the after-party was more popular. People were trying to get into the secret after-party where we would play bingo.”
