Serene Branson’s on-air meltdown was not a stroke, but was a complex migraine
We caught some heat for being one of the first sites to post Serene Branson’s on-air gibberish extravaganza and Jake Benson’s amusing autotune remix. People still clung to the fabricated reports that Branson had suffered a stroke. Well, now we know what actually happened.
After a week of neurological testing, it was revealed that Branson had suffered from a “complex migraine” which led to her stammering. The condition runs in her family. It packs the symptoms of a regular migraine but with some neurological side-effects.
Branson told CBS’s “Early Show”:
“I knew something wasn’t right as soon as I opened my mouth.
“I hadn’t been feeling well a little bit before the live shot. I had a headache, my vision was very blurry. I knew something wasn’t right, but I just thought I was tired. So when I opened my mouth, I thought, ‘This is more than just being tired. Something is terribly wrong.’
I wanted to say, ‘Lady Antebellum swept the Grammys.’ And I could think of the words, but I could not get them coming out properly.”
So there you go.
For the record, what she said sounded NOTHING like “Lady Antebellum swept the Grammys.” I would have guessed she was attempting to recite an ancient pagan spell commonly said before beheading an aardvark before I would have guessed that one. Why would she be reciting ancient pagan spells in a report about the Grammys? I don’t know. Probably some attention whore-y thing Lady Gaga did. She’s so edgy and original! Just like mid 80s Madonna!
