Shots of tequila save 13-year-old from brain tumor

A teen in California had the clever idea to take eight shots of tequila on a dare from his similarly brilliant friends. Spoiler alert: His little body couldn’t handle it, forcing him to the ER for alcohol poisoning. Only once there, a miracle happened…they also found a life-threatening brain tumor and got it in time to cure it. Behold the powers of alcohol!

A Galt teen is back home for the holidays after the successful, seven-month-long treatment of a brain tumor that was only discovered after he made a dangerous mistake before school one day.

Last May, 13-year-old Evan Hamilton took a dare from his friends at McCaffrey Middle School in Galt last May and downed eight shots of tequila as fast as he could.

The dangerous lapse in judgment turned out to be a blessing, according to his family.

Within a week, doctors removed the brain tumor. Evan spent months recovering from the surgery and a tracheotomy that was also performed before he was allowed to come home.

That’s a nice holiday story. Good for this family and this kid. It really shows you how sometimes to biggest adversity a family can face will sometimes turn back around and work out in the end. Truly a miraculous situation that avoided a more serious tragedy.

That said, this hardly makes it more defensible to people in my life when I try to explain this concept after giving 13-year-old girls tequila body shots. If only people could understand this is just a sexy important piece in the good Lord’s grand plan.
