Singapore is promoting a sex day to help its low birthrate

Looking for a reason for a trip to Singapore? You may want to learn more about this Thursday’s “National Day,” a day openly courting Singapore residents to bone to help the country’s birthrate.

For some reason, the event is sponsored by Mentos, leading to an ad campaign with this video as a centerpiece.

The event makes sure to point out that “Only financially secure adults in stable, committed, long-term relationships should participate.” So don’t go popping Mentos all willy nilly with your fly unzipped, folks.

Singapore has one of the lowest birthrates in the world, even taking to offering an S$4,000 bonus per child to prop it back up. And if there’s a problem breath freshening candy and $4,000 can’t fix, I haven’t seen it.

Learn more about National Day at the Mentos Singapore Facebook page (which you probably already have bookmarked, but still).
