Six-year-old girl removed from cheerleading due to saucy cheers
Kids today are growing up faster than ever. But maybe it’s not their fault as much as it is the people responsible for him. One Michigan mom complained to the local news about a cheer her six-year-old daughter had to chant during a flag football game. Now the team has voted unanimously to kick the girl out and the mom is upset.
The cheer she objects to says “our backs ache, our skirts are too tight, we shake our booties from left to right.”
Other mothers in the league were upset that Tesch removed her daughter and went to the news about it, saying that it would have been better to handle the situation internally rather than go public.
In spite of the controversy around it, the team and the parents voted to keep the cheer and remove Tesch’s daughter from the team permanently.
I get why a parent may object to a cheer like that but it seems pretty tame by modern standards. Then again, I’m not entirely sure how the cheer relates to football either. Isn’t the point of a cheerleader to, you know, cheer for the team? It seems like a tight skirt and swaying booty aren’t crucial to a solid football performance, unless you’re trying to distract the team of convicts from “The Longest Yard.”
So what do you think? Is a six-year-old girl talking about her tight skirt and shaking booty a little too inappropriate?
