Superman and Batman to protest at LA City Hall

For those of you that are not familiar with Los Angeles, people dressed as superheros and old movie characters gather in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard everyday to take pictures with tourists for “donations.” Lately, the cops have been hassling them and even arresting them for various infractions. And so they’ve decided to march on LA City Hall!

Yes, that is a picture of Spider-Man getting arrested. And I can tell you from personal experience that he had it coming. Southern California Public Radio explains why.

At the end of May, Los Angeles police cruised Hollywood Boulevard and removed the characters off one-by-one. LAPD says officers responded to reports of violent confrontations between competing costumed superheroes and aggressive tip-soliciting from tourists.

This is an absolute fact. Some of these people are downright crazy (not hard to imagine seeing as they dress up as movie characters for a living) and are in fact, very violent. One day a few years ago I was at a business meeting at a Hooters (don’t you judge me) and I went outside to smoke a cigarette. Across the street was Grauman’s Theatre and as I stood there watching, Spider-Man and Elmo got into one of the greatest fistfights in the history of time. I mean theses guys went at it in front of children, tourists and everybody. People finally jumped in after a minute or so to stop the madness, but not after Elmo had his head literally knocked off and Spider-Man threw out some language that can only be described as “trucker-esque.” The best part was that many people just walked by as if watching something of this nature wasn’t even worth their time. I personally have never been the same since that day.

Since that incident I’ve read countless reports of Batman and other characters getting hauled away in handcuffs for various infractions. But Superman and Batman will hear nothing more of it. They aren’t about to let a few bad apples spoil their way of living, and so they’ve decided to stage a protest today at 12pm to fight for their right to work. Judging from this video, I’d say this is going to turn out to be a Benny Hill sketch.

Seriously, if you live in Los Angeles, I BEG YOU, go down and get video of this and send it to us. I know something crazy is going to happen and it’s going to be hilarious. I don’t want to miss a riot with Darth Vader, Charlie Chaplin and Superman and you shouldn’t either.
