The top free iPhone game belongs to a 14-year-old boy

In the most feel-good story involving an iPhone since the last time I coerced a random chick to text me nude photos of herself in a top hat (we all have our quirks), “Angry Birds” has been dethroned on the free iPhone app charts..by a 14-year-old boy named Robert Nay and his game “Bubble Ball”.

bubble ball 309x181 The top free iPhone game belongs to a 14 year old boy Nay, an aspiring programmer who’s dabbled in both Web programming and computer technician work, tried two different programming languages to create the game before opting to create it in Ansca Mobile’s Corona tools.

Nay spent a couple months building the game out with some level design aid from his mother. After being released in late December of last year, the game hit #1 in the iTunes store this week.

Though the game is free, Nay plans to add more games inside “Bubble Ball” available as in-app purchases to create additional revenue.

While it’s easy to be jealous of this 14-year-old for passing up Rovio’s “Angry Birds” juggernaut and getting all this attention, it’s important to keep things in perspective: Maybe this will make young Robert Nay a millionaire, but at least I can masturbate without the threat of my mom bursting into my bedroom with her exciting new sketches of levels that she thinks I should program immediately. And I don’t have to eat brussel sprouts. Point: Chris.
