Dave Chappelle had his famous “flee to Africa” moment and pretty much disappeared from the spotlight. Slowly but sure, he’s been working back in, doing more noteworthy stand-up gigs around the country. And now he’s given his first interview in five years to a radio station in San Francisco, talking about being booed, perceptions he had a “meltdown”, and why he’s so jacked.

I thought this was pretty interesting but I have to ask…is it just me or did off-screen Dave Chappelle totally lose his sense of humor? He won’t even crack a joke about Ohio, responds to a question about Nicki Minaj’s gigantic ass by saying “She’s a beautiful girl,” won’t bash Nick Cannon. There’s just not a laugh to be had. And the Wild 94.9 hosts are obviously doing their best to make it fun and good but Dave’s just not that dude any more. Fame broke him. A talented guy getting into his happy place should not affect his ability to entertain me. Damn you and your selfish quest for personal fulfillment, Chappelle.
