VIDEO: Early 1990s video teaches kids about the Internet and street smarts
If you like naiveté in the nascent days of the Internet and kids acting traumatized over things they saw online, then this edited clip from an early 90s video called “Internet & Street Smarts” may tickle your fancy.
No wonder these kids are having such terrible experiences. They have no clue at all what they’re doing. Look at this screencap from 1:30 in with the two little girls “chatting with a stranger” online:

They’re in Microsoft Word, a program which was never used for chatting. That means that little Asian girl is having a conversation with herself. That makes this more like a warning video about Internet manifestations of multiple personality disorder than one about the dangers of strangers online.
I’d also like to know what the fat kid was seeing online. If this is like 1993, it probably wasn’t even anything close to what we have today. It was probably some slow downloading image of a vagina in a top hat with an MS Paint saying, “Pleasure to meet you, good sir.” If only you knew how deep this rabbit hole goes, kid.
