VIDEO: Harry Belafonte falling asleep on local TV is deeply amusing

Chris Spags Founder and Editor

Harry Belafonte is an 84-year-old man and, as you may be aware, they’re not exactly known for their ability to stay awake. In this clip, Bakersfield, Calif. ABC affiliate KBAK’s morning show tries to interview Mr. Belafonte, only to find out he’s asleep.

As bad as it is to have to improv an entire segment for this local news team, it’d probably be much worse for them to have to awkwardly segue out of a legendary calypso singer dying live on their morning show. Kind of hard to go on to a fun segment about a squirrel water skiing after that one.

How bummed must Harry Belafonte be today? The most press coverage he’s gotten in years and it’s because he almost had a Weekend at Bernie’s moment on a Bakersfield TV station. Not a proud moment, I’d say.

Thanks for the tip, Comedy Wizard!
